TYLA Project Honicknowle Plymouth (Jan 03=May 05)

Over the months, staff at West Park Primary School have noticed a gradual change in one particular pupil that has been attending the T.Y.L.A Coaching project. Difficulties with accepting boundaries, expressing feelings appropriately and controlling his emotions have all but subsided. He is now happy, motivated and keen to please and is no longer at risk of exclusion. This boy has recently said ”I am happy here now. I want to stay in this school. All my friends are here. I like maths, English and geography. School is great!” He has truly begun to turn his life around....

The change has come about thanks to the dedication of the TYLA Workers and the fact that the project workers, school staff pupils and parents have all listened to each other's views. As the work of the TYLA Project continues, we hope more children and young people will be given the opportunity to benefit from such an exciting Project.
